Sana’a, Yemen – In a significant step towards enhancing intellectual property protection and streamlining trademark registration processes, the General Department for Intellectual Property Protection of the Ministry of Industry & Trade in Yemen has adopted the 10th Edition of the International Classification of Goods and Services, commonly known as the Nice Classification.
Effective from August 19, 2023, the Department commenced the acceptance of trademark applications utilizing the classifications outlined in the 10th Edition. This move aligns with the ongoing modernization efforts and the adoption of an advanced online trademark filing system, ensuring a more efficient and user-friendly experience for individuals and businesses seeking trademark registrations.
The Nice Classification, established under the Nice Agreement, is an internationally recognized system for categorizing goods and services for trademark registration. By categorizing goods and services into specific classes, the classification system simplifies the trademark registration process and promotes uniformity across jurisdictions.
