Dubai Customs has made significant strides in the protection of intellectual property rights, revealing the seizing of counterfeit goods valued at over 5.4 million dirhams across 13 separate instances in the first quarter of 2024. These findings come amidst the handling of a total of 62 cases related to intellectual property disputes since the beginning of the year.

The disclosure of these figures coincided with the celebration of World Intellectual Property Day, an event that saw the active participation of key figures, including Yousef Al-Hashimi, (Acting) Executive Director of the Customer Management Division, and representatives from partner organizations dedicated to the protection of intellectual property rights.

The event, attended by various executive directors and department managers from Dubai Customs, also served as a platform for collaboration and knowledge sharing. Dubai Customs, in collaboration with trademark owners, organized workshops aimed at combatting emerging counterfeiting methods. These workshops engaged 92 participants, including inspectors and specialists.

Moreover, community awareness events on intellectual property reached a significant audience of 6064 participants.

With these proactive measures and collaborative efforts, Dubai Customs reaffirms its dedication to safeguarding intellectual property rights, fostering innovation, and ensuring a fair and competitive market environment.
